Sayangnya, banyak yang mengira bahwa setelah mengikuti tes kita langsung mendapatkan sertifikat tersebut. Kenyataannya tidak demikian, ya!
Sebelum kamu mengambil tes TOEFL, kamu sudah tahu belum apa saja jenis TOEFL? Tes bahasa Inggris dengan standar Amerika Serikat ini terdiri dari dua jenis, yakni TOEFL ITP dan TOEFL iBT. Dulu, tes ITP hanya dilakukan secara offline. Namun sekarang kedua tes tersebut dapat dilakukan secara online.
Perbedaan yang lain adalah TOEFL iBT mengukur empat keterampilan bahasa Inggris, yaitu Listening (Mendengarkan), Reading (Membaca), Speaking (Berbicara), dan Writing (Menulis). Sementara itu, TOEFL ITP hanya mencakup tiga keterampilan, yaitu Listening, Reading, dan Structure (Tata Bahasa), tanpa mencakup tes berbicara atau menulis.

Nilai Minimum TOEFL agar Dapat Sertifikat
Skor TOEFL adalah tolok ukur kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang diakui oleh lembaga IIEF. Adanya nilai tersebut dapat membuktikan apakah kita benar-benar mampu mendengarkan, berbicara, hingga menulis dengan bahasa Inggris. Untuk lebih jelasnya berikut adalah skor minimal yang harus kamu capai untuk mendapatkan sertifikat TOEFL ITP maupun iBT.
1. Skor Minimal TOEFL ITP
Tes TOEFL ITP menggunakan skala skor yang berbeda dari TOEFL iBT, dengan rentang skor antara 310 hingga 677. Setiap komponen tes memiliki bobot yang berbeda dalam perhitungan skor total. Semakin tinggi skor yang dicapai, semakin baik pula kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang dimiliki peserta.
Peserta yang ingin memperoleh sertifikat TOEFL ITP resmi yang diakui oleh IIEF harus mencapai skor minimal 433. Skor ini menandakan bahwa peserta memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang memadai, yang cukup untuk digunakan dalam mengikuti perkuliahan baik di dalam negeri maupun luar negeri, serta untuk keperluan pendaftaran pekerjaan.
2. Skor Minimal TOEFL iBT
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language-Internet Based Test) adalah ujian yang dirancang untuk menilai kemampuan bahasa Inggris seseorang, terutama dalam konteks akademik. Berbeda dengan TOEFL ITP, TOEFL iBT memiliki format yang lebih interaktif dan menyeluruh. Skor TOEFL iBT berkisar antara 0 hingga 120, dengan setiap bagian tes (Listening, Speaking, Reading, dan Writing) memiliki skor maksimum 30.
Berbicara soal skor minimal TOEFL, untuk TOEFL iBT tidak menentukan seberapa tinggi level bahasa Inggris, melainkan untuk menunjukkan kemampuan memahami dan mengekspresikan bahasa Inggris. Skor TOEFL ITP dibagi menjadi beberapa tingkatan, mulai dari dasar (310-420) hingga mahir (525-677), dengan rentang menengah bawah (420-480) dan menengah atas (480-520) di antaranya.

Skor TOEFL untuk Beasiswa
Salah satu alasan peserta mengikuti tes TOEFL ITP maupun IBT adalah untuk memenuhi syarat beasiswa yang ada di dalam negeri maupun luar negeri. Salah satu beasiswa yang diminati banyak masyarakat Indonesia adalah LPDP. Untuk mengikuti beasiswa ini, skor TOEFL ITP minimal yang kamu peroleh adalah 500 untuk jenjang S2 dalam negeri, lalu 530 untuk S3.
Apabila kamu ingin menggunakan TOEFL iBT, skor TOEFL minimal yang kamu dapatkan adalah 61 untuk tingkat S2 dalam negeri. Berikutnya skor minimal 70 untuk beasiswa S3 dalam negeri.
Skor TOEFL untuk CPNS
Skor minimal TOEFL tidak hanya untuk mendaftar beasiswa saja, lo! Terkadang kamu juga membutuhkan sertifikat bahasa Inggris apabila mendaftar CPNS. Persyaratan skor TOEFL dapat berbeda-beda antar instansi, namun umumnya berada dalam rentang 400-500 untuk TOEFL ITP dan 50-80 untuk TOEFL iBT.
Beberapa instansi yang sering mensyaratkan skor TOEFL dalam proses seleksi CPNS antara lain Kementerian Keuangan, Kementerian Luar Negeri, Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika, serta berbagai lembaga pemerintahan lainnya. Sertifikat TOEFL diwajibkan untuk jabatan tertentu yang berhubungan langsung dengan masyarakat maupun yang membutuhkan komunikasi dua negara.
